Gender-based violence is never acceptable — regardless of your gender, relationship, or circumstance. You have the right to be safe. Always.
Gender-based violence includes physical, sexual, emotional and economic abuse. It includes intimate partner violence, sexual assault, forced marriage, and harassment. It affects all genders.
The Domestic Violence Act (2008) protects you. You can report GBV to the police, go to a magistrates court for a protection order, or seek help from Childline or Botswana Gender Commission.
