The #GaKeFue Project is Class Volunteers Foundation’s dedicated tobacco control and cessation initiative, supported by the Ministry of Health, Botswana. We educate, empower and support youth and communities to make tobacco-free choices.
From one-on-one sessions to community outreach events, CVF volunteers take the tobacco-free message directly to the people who need it most.
#GaKeFue is a Setswana phrase meaning “I don’t smoke” or “I will not smoke”. It is CVF’s rallying call for tobacco-free living among Botswana’s youth and communities.
The project is supported by the Ministry of Health, Botswana and forms part of Botswana’s broader tobacco control strategy aligned with the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC).
CVF volunteers carry the #GaKeFue message into schools, communities and public events — offering awareness sessions, cessation support and health information to those who need it most.

Tobacco kills up to half of its users. These are not statistics — these are people. Know the facts. Make the choice.
Quitting is the single best thing you can do for your health. It is hard — but it is possible. Thousands of Batswana have quit. You can too. Here is how to start:
Choose a specific date within the next 2 weeks. Tell someone you trust. Write it down. Commit. Having a date makes quitting real — it moves intention into action.
Identify when and why you smoke — stress, boredom, after meals, with friends? Plan what you will do instead in those moments. Preparation beats willpower every time.
Tell friends and family you are quitting. Ask for their support. Consider calling BOSASNet (+267 365 0400) for free cessation counselling.
A craving lasts only 3–5 minutes. Breathe deeply, drink water, take a walk, chew gum. Delay — the craving will pass. Use the #GaKeFue tracker in the CVF App to count your free days.
Each day tobacco-free is a victory. Your body is healing — from 20 minutes after your last cigarette. Reward yourself. Track your progress. And if you slip — do not give up. Start again.
Download the free CVF App and use the built-in #GaKeFue Cessation Tracker — it counts your tobacco-free days, shows your body healing in real time, and gives you craving-busting tips whenever you need them.
Cravings last only 3–5 minutes. Try this technique — it works:
